Terms of Use & Disclaimer

Effective June 12, 2026 · operated by [OPERATOR] · back to the tool

By using knowyourworth (the “Site”), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site. The short version, repeated throughout: this is an educational checklist built on public government data — not advice.

1. What the Site is

The Site is a free educational reference. It republishes figures from official U.S. government bulk data (U.S. Department of Labor, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Geological Survey) and provides calculators and general educational material about wage rules and common employment-contract patterns. It requires no account and stores nothing you type.

2. Not legal, tax, financial, or immigration advice

Nothing on the Site is legal, tax, financial, or immigration advice, and nothing on it creates an attorney–client or advisory relationship. Verdicts, stamps, “pattern” matches, estimates, and calculator outputs are general information based on the inputs you choose and published government tables. They are a starting checklist for a conversation with a licensed attorney or with the U.S. Department of Labor — not a determination about your situation, your contract, or your employer. Do not act or refrain from acting based on the Site without consulting a qualified professional.

3. Data accuracy and timeliness

Government source files lag reality, typically by one to three months and sometimes by more than a year. Data may contain errors introduced at the source, during transformation, or by name-matching (employers file under legal names that change over time). Every panel links to its official source; verify there before relying on any figure. The Site never knowingly invents a number, but it makes no guarantee of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any purpose. The current ingestion state is shown on the data status page.

4. Employer records

Employer panels display raw public filing records (petition approvals and denials, labor condition application data) exactly as published by the U.S. government, together with defined, neutral metrics computed from those records. They are not ratings, rankings, reviews, or judgments about any company. Absence of records is not evidence of anything. If you represent an employer and believe a figure misstates the public record, contact[email protected] with the official source and we will correct any transcription error promptly.

5. The clause paste-helper

The optional clause analyzer runs entirely in your browser; pasted text is never transmitted to or stored by the Site. Its output describes what text resembles among publicly documented contract patterns and states general rules. It does not and cannot determine whether any clause is lawful, enforceable, or applicable to you.

6. Privacy

The Site has no accounts, collects no personal information, sets no tracking or advertising cookies, and runs no analytics that identify you. Your visa-category selection and your acknowledgment of the disclaimer are kept in your browser's session storage only; a display-theme preference is kept in local storage. Calculator inputs are processed in your browser or sent as stateless queries (occupation code, area code) that are not logged with any identity. Shareable report links encode the numbers you chose to share in the URL itself; sharing such a link is your choice and your responsibility. The only usage measurement on the Site is a single anonymous aggregate counter of how many times the share button has been clicked — it records no identity, no time, and nothing about what was shared.

7. External links

Links to government sites, review platforms, attorney directories, and other third parties are provided for convenience. We do not control and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or practices.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Site — including scraping it at disruptive volume, attempting to compromise it, misrepresenting its output as an official or legal determination, or using its data to harass any person or company.

9. No warranties; limitation of liability

THE SITE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ACCURACY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, [OPERATOR] SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF INCOME, EMPLOYMENT, IMMIGRATION STATUS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SITE. THE SITE IS FREE; IF ANY LIABILITY IS NONETHELESS FOUND, IT SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS.

10. Changes

We may update the Site and these terms at any time; the effective date above reflects the latest revision. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [STATE], without regard to conflict of law principles.

This page is itself a template prepared without an attorney. Before production launch, fill the placeholders and consider a one-time review (a law-school small-business clinic will often do this free).
